Daniel Kalder says he practices in the act of "anti-tourism". With that said, he meant that as he travels around the world, he does not comply to normal tourism spots and activities (Kalder). Examples of anti-tourism would be: instead of heading to France and sighting the Eiffel Tower, he would go exploring to the smallest village in Europe, learning about the customs and people that live there. The reason why Kalder embraces anti-tourism is for learning more about the culture that surrounds the area. Kalder's interview talks about how history books and travel pamphlets "...usually just tell the same stories over and over and over again" (Kalder). Therefore, traveling to unpopular locations expands a traveler's knowledge. Many of the random unknown places that Kalder visits, he has a sense that "Nobody's watching", not many people in the world know about it. This explains why he embraces anti-tourism and goes along by sharing to the world his experiences in his book.
